Move-Out Checklist

Thank you for living with us this school year. All chapter houses close at 12:00 p.m. the day after final exams conclude. Read below to ensure your safe and smooth departure from the chapter house.

NOTE: Members who deviate from this process in any way risk forfeiting their membership deposit and/or being fined for violating the terms of their lease.

  • To ensure a manageable move-out process and to limit crowd sizes, you must schedule an appointment to move-out of your assigned room and the chapter house.

Work with your House Director to arrange for a move-out time. These times are at the discretion of the House Director. Failure to complete a move-out inspection with your House Director will result in the forfeiture of your membership deposit and/or being fined for violating the terms of your lease.

All members must move-out on or prior to the chapter house closure date. No late move-out requests will be accepted or permitted.

  • Members are responsible for cleaning their room and returning it to its original condition prior to moving out. This includes, but is not limited to:

    • Removing all personal items from the room, including any fixtures placed on the walls, ceilings, windows, and/or floors. Any personal items left behind will be disposed of at the occupant's expense.

    • Ensuring beds are constructed, placed, and lofted and SAE F&H-provided furniture items are returned to where they were originally placed in the room.

    • Sweeping, vacuuming, and/or mopping the room's floor so it is clean.

    • Removing all trash and recycling to their designated areas outside of the chapter house.

Any efforts that need to be undertaken to return the room to its original condition after members move-out will be charged as "damage" and divided equally among the last members who occupied the room.

  • Members are responsible to setup mail forwarding to their new address. While we're happy to retain mail received in your name, we will not forward this mail to you. So, we encourage you to setup this mail forwarding service with the United States Postal Service (USPS) as soon as possible.

  • Members are not permitted to leave or store personal items in any area of the chapter house over the summer.

Any efforts that need to be undertaken to return the chapter house common areas to their original condition after members move-out will be charged as "damage" and divided equally among all chapter members.

  • Members are expected to observe any local health guidelines during the move-out process. This includes any guidelines requiring mask wearing, physical distancing, and frequent hand-washing or the use of hand sanitizer.

  • During your move-out appointment, members are responsible to meet with the House Director to conduct a move-out inspection of their room. This move-out inspection includes, but is not limited to:

    • Your House Director documenting the room's condition utilizing a mobile app.

    • Providing any chapter house keys and key fobs to the House Director.

    • Bringing any questions, comments, or concerns regarding the room's condition to the attention of the House Director.

Failure to complete a move-out inspection with your House Director will result in the forfeiture of your membership deposit and/or being fined for violating the terms of your lease.

  • Whether you're graduating, or just leaving for the summer, we look forward to welcoming you back to our chapter house next school year. Have a fun, restful, and safe summer.
